The Cancel Culture Giveaway!
The English edition has a cover and to celebrate I'm doing a giveaway!
I’m so excited that the publication of The Cancel Culture Panic is drawing nearer. I sent off the last edits last week, which is usually the moment a book starts to feel real in a thrilling and scary way. Supposedly it’ll be out in September! It even has a cover (which just went up on amazon and on the Press website!).
I’m excited to finally share this book with an English-speaking audience. Preorders are immensely important for authors these days — and you can now pre-order it on amazon, and likely a few other places as well. I also happen to have a bunch of copies of What Tech Calls Thinking around — it came out during the pandemic, so giving these to people wasn’t exactly easy. So I am taking a page out of Lyz Lenz’s playbook (who and whose This American Ex-Wife is excellent!) and starting a giveaway!
How does this work?
Step 1: Preorder my The Cancel Culture Panic and send me proof of preorder. Simply forward an electronic receipt to cancel.research@gmail.com with the subject line “Giveaway”, and simply put your preferred mailing address in the email. If you preordered the book through an independent bookstore, you can send a picture of the receipt and/or the name of the bookstore instead. Use the subject line “Giveaway.”
Step 2: I’ll send you a copy of my last book What Tech Calls Thinking (while supplies last) and stickers for my podcasts The Feminist Present and In Bed With the Right (again, while supplies last). I’ll be running the giveaway myself, so please make this easy on me! And allow some time! And unfortunately I can’t send books outside the United States, as that would be ruinously expensive — so sorry!
Oh, there’s one other wrinkle: if you read German, and you’d like a copy of the German book Cancel Culture Transfer (which is substantially different from the forthcoming English book), I have a bunch of those here as well (turns out, it’s hard to gift San Francisco friends copies of a 370 page book in a language they can’t read). I also have a few author copies of the French and Korean editions of What Tech Calls Thinking! So if you’re feeling linguistically adventurous, put that in your message and I’ll send you whichever book you request (again, as long as supplies last, which in this case won’t be super long).
Oh, kind of an amusing aside as to why I’m asking you to use the subject line “Giveaway” — cancel.research@gmail.com is the email I created to subscribe to various “anti-woke” Substacks, newspapers and mailing lists. Now of course I’m kind of done with the research, but somehow the updates do not stop coming. So your lovely emails will pop into my mailbox flanked by various missives from Le Figaro, The Free Press, or various Orbán-affiliated think tanks, as I sorcerer apprentice-style try to sift through the deluge. Again, don’t make me click through those, please.
I really hope some of you take me up on this! Can’t wait to share the book with you all!
I received my book and swag today! Thank you! (I sent you a written note via snail mail; if you don't receive it, I still want you to know how much I appreciate the gifts from you.) I look forward to the book in September!
